Phlebotomy and Your Additional Training

November 17th 2011 -

After your official Phlebotomy training, you should expect to continue to learn as you practice in the field. When I started at my first job as a phlebotomist, my supervisor made me aware that there was no one in his staff that knew it all. He advocated that as long as we worked there, we would all continue to learn from each other and be very gracious in how we present ourselves when gaining this knowledge. I tried to live up to his expectations, and I did everything I could to help out those that had mentored me. I lived by this creed for many years, and I developed friendships that still stand today because of this. We all understood that we wouldn’t have all the answers individually and it was better to rely on our team members for support in the areas that were not of our expertise in phlebotomy training.
